About Counselling

Counselling is a safe place to explore the 'blocks', difficulties and 'stuck' places in your life's journey.

My aim is to facilitate awareness and that gives you choices, which in turn brings change. Sometimes we are the victims of our own belief system, or our past, and that can blind us to certain ways of looking at issues or behaving. A counsellor/therapist is a catalyst, or trigger for change. Of course, I cannot do the changing for you, but I can create a safe and supportive place for you to explore, become aware and initiate the changes you want.

It is not a sign of weakness to seek support. It may be a sign of humility to accept that a problem you have may need some perspective and it takes great courage to turn to an unknown person for help.

I work with all ages from 18 upwards. Many people come to counselling suffering with poor self worth and many lack positive self-regard.

I run personal development groups because they are a powerful catalyst for change. Groups aid recognition of universality which builds trust and a sense of belonging. Personal insight is gained through the impact and value of feedback. Groups help develop your optimism for personal growth.

YOUR FIRST VISIT is a chance to share your reasons for seeking counselling and for you to decide if you think you might be able to work with me. Before your first visit you might want to consider whether you want short-term (i.e. six to eight weeks) or open-ended work, with no fixed ending time.
